English smocking is now showing up on high end ladies garments and accessories as well as traditional children’s clothing. This class will cover all the essentials, whether you are new to English smocking or you want to take your skills to the next level. Beginners will start with the basic stitches practiced on a doodle cloth, and will also learn how to start and end, join threads, center a design and block the finished piece. In the second class you’ll begin working on a project – a baby bonnet, a sundress or nightgown, or an inset for a garment, pillow or tote bag. The design provided is the same for all, except for yardage amounts and finishing. Experienced smockers can begin working on a new project of their choice. (There will be a small fee for pleating of fabric)
